Youth Groups at St John's

 

At St John's, our youth ministries' core values are Faith, Fellowship, Friendship, and Fun.  We believe that the acceptance and love we have for each other is what builds our unity in Christ and develops lifelong friendships.   We create a safe space to consider spiritual matters, talk about our lives,  and work on outreach programs in the greater community.  And we include as much just plain fun as we can! After graduation, the young adults will remember the  movies, trips, community service, supportive friends and adult mentors, and all the tasks and adventures in which the St John's youth group ministries specializes in.

 

The Youth Formation ministry allows us to walk with our youth on their journeys from childhood to adulthood, recognizing their gifts for ministry, their questions about spirituality, and their desire to make a difference in the world.  Anyone in the 5th through 12th grades is automatically a member of either the St John's Middle School Youth Group or the High School Youth Group.  Come to see what we have to offer!

Responding to the spiritual needs of teens and young adults is about building trusting relationships.  We  create a sacred meeting space where people can trust and share without fear of judgment.  We talk about real issues and share our doubts and concerns.  No one is perfect, and we all make mistakes.  But, we are committed to holding each other up and being there for each other.


We are blessed with a team of dedicated volunteer mentors who love our youth and willingly share their time to help nurture everyone who participates.

Middle School Youth Group

 

The middle school youth group is for our children in grades 5 through 7.  The youth group performs a variety of community service projects, and attend fun outings together, some of which are done with the Senior High Youth Group.  The goal of the middle school youth group is to starting bonding the friendships, caring, and trust that will guide the children through the confirmation process. 

 

High School Youth Group


The Senior High Youth Group is a way for our High School age children to stay connected to God and the church.  This group of caring and enthusiastic young adults perform many community outreach activities as well as participate in many ministries within the church.  
 

Adult Formation

 

Christian formation is the lifelong process of growing in our relationship with God, with ourself, and with other people.  Every experience in our lives can provide us with the opportunity to express our faith and the challenge that we all face is recognizing these opportunities.  At St John's, our adult formation will help you grow closer to God with other adults in the church while renewing and revitalizing your faith.

Christian Formation Opportunities

 

Throughout the year, St John's offers a variety of formation activities for the adults in the parish including Bible Study Groups, Men's Group, Prayer Chain, and a Lenten Pub Series.

 

Through these activities with the clergy of the St John's, you will experience:

 

  • The beliefs and practices of our faith

 

  • How to study scripture and biblical passages

 

  • Options for prayer

 

  • Church history

 

  • Spiritual growth and fellowship
