Reverend Tom Ferguson


The Revd Dr Thomas Ferguson has been at St. John's since March, 2016.  Prior to that, he served as Academic Dean at Bexley Hall Seabury Western Seminary, where he also taught Anglican history and theology.  Prior to coming to Bexley Seabury, he served for a decade on the staff of the Presiding Bishop as Ecumenical Officer, coordinating the Episcopal Church's dialogues with other Christian communions and other religious traditions.  He has previously served in congregational ministry in California and Wisconsin, as chaplain at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and as a hospital chaplain in Providence, Rhode Island. 


Father Tom is a native of Hanson, Massachusetts, and attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.  He received his MDiv from Yale Divinity School, Master of Theology from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, and PhD in Church History from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California.  His wife, the Rev. Shannon Kelly, is an Episcopal priest serving as Missioner for Campus and Young Adult ministries for the Presiding Bishop’s staff.

Susan Sharpe - Parish Administrator


Susan is originally from upstate New York and moved to the Cape in 1969.  She has been a resident of Mashpee since 1976.  She was married by Fr. John Thomas at St. John's, and both of her granddaughters were baptized here as well. 

Susan holds a Master's Degree in Education/Special Education and brings broad experience in administration, previously in telecommunications, state government, human resources, travel/transportation/tourism, and hospitality industries.  Susan is a retired elementary, and special education teacher, and recently retired from 8 years as a certified retail pharmacy technician. She has two children and three grandchildren.

Misao Koyama - Music Director


Born in Japan with a passion for music, Misao plays all genres of music from classical to Broadway, especially jazz.  Misoa brings this passion to St John's as organist, pianist, and choir director, enabling the choir to express their faith through song.


Misao is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston and also is the accompanist for the Barnstable Intermediate School Chorus and the Cape Conservatory.  She likes to teach piano privately and currently resides on the  Cape with her daughter.

Alan Carlson - Sexton


Alan was born and raised in Grafton, Massachusetts and retired to Sandwich in 2011. Alan and his wife Mary have been married 40 years and have two children, Krista and Mark, and five grandchildren Aidan, Grace, Olivia, Lukas and Aaron.  Alan received his BS degree in mechanical engineering from Lowell Technological Institute and remains an active member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) of which he presently sits on two subcommittees.  


Alan retired from Raytheon Company, in 2011, where he had worked for 38 years beginning as a mechanical engineer and ending his career in management.  He also enjoys golf, woodworking and his church!

Christine Hudson - Director of Christian Education


Christine has over 15 years experience in non-profit management experience organizing volunteers, events, and information. 


As a Coast Guard spouse, she has lived around the county and volunteered in multiple churches helping with Sunday School, youth groups and other activities.  She considers her own experiences in Sunday School and youth group a vital part  of her faith development and wants to provide young people with the tools they need as they begin their own journeys of a life in faith. 


Christine lives on the Cape with her husband Mike and their two children ages 12 and 4.
