ST JOHN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH
Sandwich, Massachusetts

Community
St John's is committed to our local, national and global communities through the ministry of our Outreach programs. We believe that outreach is a calling, not a project, and our calling is to give help and hope to those in need whether they are here or around the world.
Outreach
Through the efforts of parishioners, clergy, and the youth groups, the St John's family gives generously of its time, talent and resources to serve our neighbors. St John's actively supports local community programs such as Cape Kid Meals, Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, Alcholics Anonymous, local Scout Troops, Cape Kid Meals, Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod, local Food Pantries, The Noah Shelter, Safe Harbor, Cape Cod Youth Empowerment Initiative, and Hyannis Street Reach.
On the second Wednesday of each month, parishioners meet at the Upper Cape Regional Technical High School to pack food bags for the children in the community who are food insecure on the weekends.
Our Hugs from Home ministry meets each Monday from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM and Wednesday from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM to make quilts that are shipped overseas to our deployed military men and women so tht they can feel closer to home.
Parishioners extend loving hands to the wider national and global community by supporting Heifer International, Support Our Troops, Haiti Earthquake Relief, The Episcopal Relief Fund, and Recovering American Soldiers.
Our High School youth also particpate in mission trips to El Salvador through the Youth Leadership Academy, helping those in need and to gain insight to the problems facing other countries.
Located at 161 Main Street in the heart of Sandwich, the St John's Thrift Shop is a vivacious part of the ongoing connection and outreach to the community. The items at the Thrift Shop are priced well below afforadable prices serving the needy in our community, and overstock items are donated back to the community and other charities.
