Fellowship Ministries
At St John's, we grow in love through the experiences we share in our Parish activities. Each of these ministries seeks to help us deepen our relationship
with each other and with God.
Coffee Hour Hosts
Coffee Hour and fellowship is held in the church Parish Hall immediately following the 10:00 AM worship service on Sunday mornings. Each week, the host provides the food, usually coffee cakes, breads and cookies, and the juice for the children. The host also makes the coffee provided by the church and cleans up the kitchen and Parish Hall afterwards.
Newcomers
We greet and welcome the new people who are attending our worship services for the first time. We assist in answering any questions they may have and also gathering information about the newcomers for followup by our clergy.
Hospitality Guild
This group of devoted and congenial women are called upon to share the warmth and kindness we all know at St John's. They help with baking for special events at the church, to deliver meals to parishioners needing help, and to bake deserts for the monthly Gathering Meal. Being part of the Hospitality Guild is an easy way to serve. Making a difference for others because God is making a difference for us!
Annual Golf Tournament Committee
The St John's Annual Golf Tournament is held each year in May and is a wonderful way to connect to other parishioners and build close relationships. The tournament includes a day of golf followed by dinner and auctions. Planning for the event is a year round task and we hope you consider helping with this vital ministry.
4th of July Pancake Breakfast
Every 4th of July we serve about 250 guests at our annual Pancake Breakfast which takes a lot of helping hands. The breakfast is served from 8 am to 10 am, just prior to the annual town parade that goes right down Main Street in front of the church. We have everyone home to celebrate their holiday before noon!
Christmas Fair
Held on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving each year, the Christmas Fair continues to be an important fellowship event for the church. The Fair includes the Christmas Cafe with handmade lobster rolls and chowder, wreaths and greens, a huge bake sale, raffle baskets, a silent auction, crafters, and our famous St John's table filled with handmade items made with love by our parishioners. Preparing for the Fair is a year long process and whether you join the planning committee or making items for the St John's table, your time and talents are always appreciated.
Hugs From Home
Held each week on the Mondays from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM and Wednesdays from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Parish Hall, this group of dedicated and talented women sew quilts that are shipped overseas to our active deployed military as a way to make them feel closer to home. You don't have to know how to sew to join in this fellowship event as there are many areas you can help with. Donations of fabric are always welcomed!
Special Parish Events
Throughout the year there are special fellowship events that help us build stronger relationships with each other including Pot Luck Suppers, a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Men's Group, Bible Study at the Pub, the Gathering Meal, Movie Nights, and our Annual St John's Day picnic. These special events will touch your heart and lift your spirits!
