Outreach Ministries

Outreach opportunities allow members of St John's to share God's love with others in our parish and in our community.  God wants us to reach out and assure people of His love through compassion and caring while awakening their faith through our communication of His word.

Prayer Chain

Prayer works. Miracles happen.  This is the mission of the Prayer Chain at St John's and indeed a 'Miracle Book' is kept by it's members.  This group meets once a month on Sunday mornings and has received over 1,000 requests for prayers since their inception in 2002.  They use their power of prayer to make amazing things happen!

Homebound Ministries

Started in the early 1960's, this ministry started weekly mailings called Home Prayers which included the weekly bulletin and prayerful notes to those that that were unable to attend the services.  This vital ministry has continued throughout the years with the weekly mailings to our home-bound parishioners.  Eucharistic Ministers who have been certified by the Diocese also give communion if requested.

Gathering Meal

Once a month we sponsor a free communitiy luncheon along with the parishioners of First Church and Corpus Christ.  We provide a warm and healthy meal, as well as plenty of fellowship, to those in the communitity that are less fortunate.

Cape Kids Meals

1 in 6 children on Cape Cod are food insecure and many of these children are school aged. Most times these children participate in the free breakfast and lunch programs offered at their local schools. Weekends can be very difficult as they may eat very little until they return to school on Monday. Cape Kid Meals was created to close that gap and provide food for the weekend.  St John's packs the meals on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 5:30 PM at the Upper Cape Regional Technical High School in Bourne.  We are hoping that we can make a difference in helping Cape Kid Meals feed the Cape's future!

St John's Thrift Shop

The St John's Thrift Shop located at 161 Main Street, adjacent to the church, where items are priced well below afforadable prices, serving the needy in our community, and overstock items are donated back to the community and other charities.

Serving our Neighbors

Through the efforts of parishioners, clergy, and the youth groups, the St. John's family gives generously of its time, talent and resources to serve our neighbors. St. John's actively supports local community programs such as Toys for Tots and The Salvation Army, as well as, global programs like Support Our Troops and The Episcopal Relief Fund.
